Public Bus
From Salisbury, you can take the Shore Transit bus service. Board the bus at the Salisbury Transit Center located at 200 East Church Street. Take the Route 4 bus towards Ocean City. Make sure to check the schedule as buses may run infrequently. After about 30 minutes, get off at the Berlin bus stop. From there, walk approximately 1.5 miles south on William Street (MD-818) until you reach National Seashore Lane. Turn left onto National Seashore Lane, and continue walking until you arrive at Assateague Island National Seashore.

Bicycle Rental
If you prefer cycling, consider renting a bicycle from a local shop in Salisbury. Once you have your bike, head east on E Main St towards S Division St. Continue on this road which will lead you onto MD-12. Follow MD-12 north until you reach the intersection with MD-818. Turn left onto MD-818 and continue for about 10 miles until you see signs for Assateague Island National Seashore. Follow the signs to the entrance.

Walking
For the adventurous, you can walk from central Salisbury to Assateague Island, although it is a lengthy trek of approximately 14 miles. Start at the Salisbury City Park and head south on S Division St. Continue straight onto MD-12, and follow this road south towards Berlin. Once in Berlin, turn left onto MD-818. Follow MD-818 until you reach National Seashore Lane. Turn left and walk straight to the entrance of Assateague Island National Seashore.
