Getting There
Metro
From the Silver Spring Metro Station, board the Red Line train towards Glenmont. Travel for 7 stops and disembark at the Judiciary Square Station. Transfer to the Orange, Silver, or Blue Line train towards Franconia-Springfield, or Largo Town Center. Travel for 3 stops and disembark at the Smithsonian Station. From there, exit the station and walk towards the National Mall. Continue walking southwest towards the Arlington Memorial Bridge, which is approximately a 20-minute walk from the Smithsonian. The bridge spans the Potomac River, connecting the Lincoln Memorial to Arlington Cemetery.
Bus
Catch the Ride On Bus Route 17 from the Silver Spring Transit Center towards the Takoma Park Metro Station. After about 10 minutes, get off at the stop at Georgia Ave & 16th St. From there, transfer to the Metrobus Route 38B towards the Smithsonian. After approximately 30 minutes, get off at the stop at Independence Ave & 14th St SW. Walk west towards the Arlington Memorial Bridge, which is about a 5-minute walk from the bus stop.

If you prefer to walk, start from the Silver Spring Metro Station and head south on Georgia Avenue. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Colesville Road, then turn left. Continue walking on Colesville Road until you reach the intersection with Fenton Street. Turn right and walk until you reach the intersection with East-West Highway (MD 410). Cross the highway and continue walking straight onto Wayne Avenue. Follow Wayne Avenue as it curves and becomes 16th St NW. Keep going until you reach the National Mall, and head southwest towards the Arlington Memorial Bridge, which should take you about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
