Start by heading to the Silver Spring Metro Station, which is located at 8400 Colesville Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Take the Red Line towards Glenmont. After 6 stops, get off at the Tysons Corner Metro Station. From there, transfer to the Silver Line towards Largo Town Center. Get off at the McLean Metro Station and exit the station.
Bus
From Silver Spring, walk to the Silver Spring Transit Center located at 8100 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Once there, take the Metrobus route 16A towards West Falls Church. Ride for about 25 minutes, and get off at the stop for Old Dominion Dr and Great Falls Park. You will be just a short walk away from the park entrance.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike using the Capital Bikeshare program. Start from the Silver Spring area and head southwest on Colesville Rd, then take a left onto 16th St. Follow 16th St which will turn into Old Dominion Dr. Continue straight for about 5 miles, and you will reach Great Falls Park. The bike ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes depending on your pace.
Walking
While walking directly to Great Falls Park from Silver Spring is quite a long journey, if you want to explore the area, you can walk to the nearest bus station at 8100 Georgia Ave to catch a bus. Alternatively, you can walk to the Metro Station and then take the Metro to McLean as described earlier. It is advisable to take public transport due to the distance.
