To reach Greater Light at 8 Howard St, Nantucket from Barnstable, first make your way to the Barnstable Harbor. You can take a local bus (Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority) to the harbor, which is about 1.5 miles away from the main attractions in Barnstable. Once at Barnstable Harbor, board the Hy-Line or Steamship Authority ferry to Nantucket. Make sure to check the ferry schedule in advance. The ferry ride takes approximately 1 hour. After arriving at Nantucket, disembark at the Nantucket Town Dock. From there, it's a short walk to Greater Light. Head east on Broad Street, then turn left on Howard Street. Greater Light will be on your left at 8 Howard St.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Barnstable and ride to the Barnstable Harbor. Once you reach the harbor, board the ferry to Nantucket. After arriving at Nantucket Town Dock, you can cycle to Greater Light. Head east on Broad Street, then turn left on Howard Street. The total distance is about 1 mile from the dock, and the route is quite flat and easy to navigate.
Walking
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can walk to Barnstable Harbor from central Barnstable. It's approximately a 30-minute walk (about 1.5 miles). After reaching the harbor, take the ferry to Nantucket. Upon arriving at Nantucket Town Dock, you can walk to Greater Light. Head east on Broad Street, then take a left on Howard Street. It’s about a 15-minute walk (1 mile) from the dock to the museum.
