Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving to Barkerville Conservation Area, start from downtown Pittsfield. Head north on North Street (MA-7) and continue for about 1.5 miles. Take a right onto Barker Road. Follow Barker Road for approximately 1 mile until you see the entrance to Barkerville Conservation Area on your left. There is no parking fee.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Barkerville Conservation Area via public transportation, take the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority (BRTA) bus. Board the bus at the downtown Pittsfield bus terminal and take Route 1 towards Lanesborough. Get off at the nearest stop to Barker Road, which is about a 15-minute walk from the conservation area. From there, walk north on Barker Road for about 0.75 miles to reach the entrance. Check the BRTA schedule for current fare and times, as fares typically cost around $1.50 one way.

  If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from a local shop in Pittsfield. Start on North Street (MA-7) heading north. Once you reach Barker Road, turn right and bike for about 1 mile to reach the conservation area. Remember to wear a helmet and follow traffic rules.   For those staying nearby, walking to Barkerville Conservation Area can be a pleasant option. If you're in the vicinity of downtown Pittsfield, head north on North Street (MA-7) until you reach Barker Road. Turn right and walk for about 1 mile. The trailhead will be on your left. This route is pedestrian-friendly, but ensure you wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated.
