If you are traveling by car, head towards Sunderland, MA. From the center of the Berkshires, take MA-7 N for about 30 miles. Merge onto I-90 E (Massachusetts Turnpike) and follow for roughly 10 miles. Take exit 3 for I-91 N towards Greenfield. Continue on I-91 N for about 15 miles, then take exit 24 for MA-116 N towards Sunderland. Follow MA-116 N for about 2 miles, then turn right onto N Main St. The Buttonball Tree will be on your left. Parking is available along the street.

For those using public transportation, take the Peter Pan Bus Lines from various locations in the Berkshires to Greenfield, MA. Once in Greenfield, transfer to the Franklin Regional Transit Authority (FRTA) bus route that heads towards Sunderland. You will want to board the bus that goes to Sunderland Center. After getting off at the Sunderland Center stop, it is about a 15-minute walk to Buttonball Tree. Head north on N Main St, and you will find the tree located at N Main St, Sunderland, MA 01375.

For adventurous travelers, biking to Buttonball Tree can be a rewarding option. You can rent a bike in the nearby towns of Great Barrington or Pittsfield. From Great Barrington, take West Stockbridge Rd (MA-41) north until you reach the junction with MA-7 N. Continue on MA-7 N for a scenic ride towards Sunderland. Upon entering Sunderland, follow the signs to N Main St where you'll find the Buttonball Tree. Please note that biking may take several hours depending on your pace and route, so plan accordingly.
