Getting There

• Car

  From anywhere in the Berkshires, head towards Lee, Massachusetts. If you are starting from Great Barrington, take Route 7 North for approximately 12 miles until you reach Lee. If you're coming from Pittsfield, take Route 20 East for about 8 miles, then turn onto Route 7 South. Once in Lee, turn onto Woodland Road. Follow Woodland Road for about 1 mile, and you will find the entrance to October Mountain State Forest on your left at 317 Woodland Rd, Lee, MA 01238. There is no parking fee for the state forest.

• Public Transportation

  If you do not have access to a car, you can take the Peter Pan Bus Lines from various locations in the Berkshires to Lee. Once you arrive at the Lee Bus Station, you will need to arrange for a local taxi service or rideshare (like Uber or Lyft) to get to the state forest entrance at 317 Woodland Rd, which is approximately 2 miles away from the bus station. Taxi fares may vary, so it's advisable to check with the service provider beforehand.

• Bicycle

  For those who enjoy cycling, you can ride to October Mountain State Forest from nearby towns. From Lee, simply take Woodland Road directly to the entrance. The road is moderately trafficked, so please use caution. Ensure your bicycle is in good working condition and wear a helmet. The ride from the center of Lee to the forest is about 2 miles and offers a scenic route.
