Getting There

• Walking

  If you are in downtown Lowell, start by heading south on Merrimack Street towards the intersection with Market Street. Continue straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the bus station at 200 Merrimack Street. From there, you can board the MBTA bus route 350 towards Salem. After approximately a 30-minute ride, disembark at the Salem Depot. Once you arrive, head northeast on Washington Street towards Howard Street. Turn right onto Howard Street, and the Howard Street Cemetery will be on your left.

• Public Transport

  Begin your journey at the Lowell Transportation Center located at 100 Thorndike Street. From here, take the MBTA commuter rail service on the Lowell Line towards North Station in Boston. During your journey, transfer at North Station to the Newburyport/Rockport Line towards Salem. It will take about an hour to reach Salem station. After arriving at Salem station, exit and walk east along Washington Street for about 0.3 miles. Then, turn left onto Howard Street, where you will find Howard Street Cemetery on your left side.

• Biking

  If you prefer biking, start at the Lowell Canal Walk located near the Boott Cotton Mill Museum. Follow the canal path south until you reach the intersection with Pawtucket Boulevard. Turn left onto Pawtucket Boulevard and continue for about 1 mile until you reach the intersection with Route 38. From there, follow the bike route signs towards Salem, which will guide you through a series of local roads and bike paths. The distance is approximately 15 miles, and it should take around an hour to reach Howard Street Cemetery.
