Walking
If you are near Gloucester's Main Street, head east towards the harbor. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Washington Street. Turn left onto Washington Street and walk towards the waterfront. Once you reach the waterfront, follow the path south along the harbor until you reach the ferry terminal at 60 Rowes Wharf in Boston. It will take about 30-40 minutes to walk, but the scenic views are worth it.

From Gloucester, take the MBTA commuter rail from the Gloucester Station towards North Station in Boston. The journey takes about 40 minutes. Once you arrive at North Station, exit the station and walk towards the Haymarket area. From there, catch the Orange Line subway towards Forest Hills. Get off at Haymarket station and transfer to the Green Line towards Government Center. Get off at Park Street station and transfer to the Red Line towards Ashmont. Get off at Downtown Crossing and follow signs for the 'Waterfront' exit. Walk towards Rowes Wharf, which is about a 10-minute walk from the station.
