Walking
If you are in downtown Gloucester, start at the Gloucester Visitor Center located at 24 Harbor Loop, Gloucester, MA. Head east on Harbor Loop towards Main St. Turn left onto Main St and walk for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Washington St. Continue straight onto Washington St, which will take you to the ferry terminal. From there, take the ferry to Salem which runs regularly. Once you arrive in Salem, exit the ferry and walk south on Blaney St. Continue onto Derby St and after about a 10-minute walk, you will reach the Custom House at 176 Derby St.
Public Transit
From the Gloucester MBTA station, take the commuter rail line towards North Station in Boston. Get off at the Salem station. Once you arrive at Salem station, exit and walk southeast on New Derby St towards the waterfront. After about a 10-minute walk, turn right onto Derby St and continue for another 5 minutes until you reach the Custom House located at 176 Derby St.
Bike
If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bicycle in Gloucester. Start from the downtown area and follow the bike lanes towards the Harbor. Head to the Gloucester Ferry Terminal and take the ferry across to Salem. Once you arrive in Salem, bike south on Blaney St and then turn right onto Derby St. The Custom House is located at 176 Derby St, just a short ride from the ferry terminal.
