Ferry
To reach Lovells Island from Gloucester, you will need to take a ferry from the nearby town of Hull, MA. First, make your way to the Gloucester Ferry Terminal located at 1 Harbor Loop. From there, you can take a local bus or walk to the nearest bus stop for bus number 450, which will bring you to the park-and-ride area. Once you arrive at the park-and-ride area, transfer to the ferry service that takes you to Hull. After arriving at Hull, you will find the ferry terminal for the Lovells Island ferry service. Check the ferry schedule for the departure times and buy your ticket to Lovells Island. The ferry ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Enjoy the scenic views of the coast on your way!
Public Transport and Walking
If you prefer public transportation, start at the Gloucester MBTA station. Board the commuter rail heading towards Boston. Once you arrive at North Station in Boston, transfer to the Orange Line subway towards Oak Grove and get off at Haymarket Station. From Haymarket, walk to the Long Wharf where you will find the ferry terminal. Look for the ferry service to Lovells Island, and be sure to check the departure times. The ferry ride will take you directly to Lovells Island, where you can explore the natural beauty and enjoy the beach.
Walking and Bus
If you are feeling adventurous, you can take a combination of walking and bus transportation. Start from your location in Gloucester and head towards the nearest bus stop for the 62 or 67 bus that takes you to the Alewife subway station. From there, take the Red Line subway towards Ashmont and get off at Broadway Station. From Broadway, transfer to the 9 bus that goes towards the Long Wharf ferry terminal. Once you arrive at Long Wharf, purchase a ticket for the ferry to Lovells Island. Enjoy your time on the island!
