Getting There

  • Bus

    If you're starting from downtown Gloucester, walk to the nearest bus stop on Main Street. You can catch the #67 bus towards Rockport. After about 10 minutes, get off at the 'Rockport Depot' stop. From there, transfer to the #11 bus heading towards Newburyport and stay on for about 20 minutes. You'll need to get off at the 'Ocean Blvd' stop in Rye, NH. Once you exit the bus, walk about 5 minutes to the East along Ocean Blvd to reach the entrance of Rye Harbor State Park.

  • Bicycle

    For a scenic route, consider renting a bicycle from one of the local shops in Gloucester. Head out towards the coast on Main Street, then take a left onto Western Avenue. Follow Western Avenue until you reach the 'Gloucester Harbor' area. Continue riding along the coast, which will lead you to the scenic Route 127. Follow Route 127 north, and it will take you directly to Rye. After about 12 miles, look for signs for Rye Harbor State Park, where you can park your bike at the entrance.

  • Walking

    If you prefer to walk and enjoy the scenery, start from the Gloucester Fishermen's Memorial on Stacy Boulevard. Walk north along the shoreline, following the beach path. Continue this route until you reach the intersection with Route 127. Cross at the crosswalk and continue walking north along Route 127. This walk is approximately 12 miles, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water. After about 3 hours of walking, you'll arrive at Rye Harbor State Park. Look for the park entrance on your left.
