    Walking

    If you're in downtown Gloucester, start at the Cape Ann Museum on Pleasant Street. Head east towards Main Street and turn left onto Main Street. Continue walking straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Washington Street. At the intersection, turn right onto Washington Street. Walk for about 0.3 miles until you reach the MBTA bus stop at the corner of Washington Street and Washington Square. Take the MBTA bus #350 towards Alewife Station. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes, then get off at the Union Square stop in Somerville. You will be right at Union Square, which is a vibrant area with shops, restaurants, and local attractions.

    Public Transit

    From Gloucester, walk to the nearest MBTA bus stop on Main Street. Take the MBTA #439 bus towards Alewife Station. You will travel approximately 30 minutes. Get off at Alewife Station in Cambridge. From Alewife Station, transfer to the Alewife to Alewife bus route (Bus #67). Ride for about 20 minutes, getting off at the Union Square stop in Somerville. Once you arrive, you’ll find yourself in the lively Union Square area.

    If you're interested in biking, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Gloucester. Start at the Gloucester Harbor and head towards the Gloucester Rail Trail. Follow the trail which leads you south towards the Alewife area. After approximately 5 miles, you will arrive at Alewife Square. From there, continue on to Union Square which is about a mile further.
