From downtown Gloucester, head northeast on Main Street toward the intersection with Pleasant Street. When you reach the intersection, turn left onto Pleasant Street. Continue walking straight until you reach the harbor. Once at the harbor, look for the ferry service that operates to Rockport. Purchase a ticket for the ferry to Rockport, which will take you across the water. After arriving in Rockport, walk along the waterfront toward Broadway Street, then head north on Broadway until you reach the end of the road. Follow the signs to Cape Ann Light Station, which is located on Thacher Island.

Start at the Gloucester MBTA train station. Take the commuter rail on the Rockport Line heading towards Rockport. The train ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Rockport Station, exit the train and walk straight on Broadway Street. Continue walking until you reach the waterfront area. Look for signs directing you to the ferry service that goes to Thacher Island. Board the ferry to reach the Cape Ann Light Station.
