Walking
From the center of Gloucester, head southwest on Main St toward Washington St. Continue straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Washington St. Turn right onto Washington St and continue for another 0.3 miles. At the intersection with Essex Ave, turn left and follow it for about 0.2 miles. You will see the Gloucester Harbor on your left. Continue walking along the waterfront until you reach the Fishermen's Memorial. From there, head toward the downtown area, and follow the signs to the Gloucester Train Station. Upon reaching the station, board the MBTA train heading towards Boston. The journey will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at North Station in Boston, exit the station and use the Orange Line subway to Haymarket Station. From Haymarket, it's a short 10-minute walk to Monument Square. Head east on Blackstone St toward Washington St, and then turn left onto Washington St. Continue straight until you reach Monument Square.
Public Transit
Begin your journey at the Gloucester MBTA station. Purchase a ticket for the train to Boston. The train ride will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at North Station in Boston, exit and follow the signs to the Haymarket subway station, which is part of the Green Line. Take the Green Line train heading toward Government Center and get off at Haymarket Station. Upon exiting the station, turn left onto Blackstone St and walk east toward Washington St. Turn left on Washington St and continue straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach Monument Square. This entire journey will take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on train schedules.
