    Getting There

    Walking

    If you are in downtown Lowell, start at the Lowell City Hall. Head southeast on Merrimack Street towards Central Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Dutton Street. Turn left onto Dutton Street and follow it until you reach the intersection with Pawtucket Boulevard. Turn right onto Pawtucket Boulevard and then take the first left onto the Lowell Connector. Walk straight for about half a mile, then take the MBTA Commuter Rail from the Lowell Station to North Station in Boston. From North Station, transfer to the Orange Line subway towards Oak Grove and get off at Haymarket Station. Finally, transfer to the Green Line subway towards Lechmere and get off at Alewife Station. From there, it’s a short walk to the Cambridge Public Library at 449 Broadway.

    Bus

    Start from the Lowell City Hall and walk to the nearest bus stop on Merrimack Street. Take the LRTA (Lowell Regional Transit Authority) bus route 5 towards the train station. Stay on the bus for about 15 minutes and get off at the Gallagher Terminal. From there, catch the MBTA bus #47 towards Alewife. After approximately 25 minutes, get off at the stop near 449 Broadway in Cambridge, which is a short walk from the Cambridge Public Library.

    From downtown Lowell, make your way to the Lowell Station. This is easily reachable by walking for about 10 minutes to the station. Once at Lowell Station, board the MBTA Commuter Rail heading towards North Station in Boston. The journey will take about 30 minutes. Upon arrival at North Station, transfer to the Orange Line subway towards Oak Grove and disembark at Haymarket Station. Finally, switch to the Green Line subway towards Alewife, getting off at Alewife Station. From Alewife Station, it’s a brief walk to the Cambridge Public Library located at 449 Broadway.
