Walking

If you are starting from the Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center at 246 Market Street, head south on Market Street toward Merrimack Street. Turn left onto Merrimack Street and continue walking until you reach the intersection with Dutton Street. Turn right onto Dutton Street, and then take a left onto the Northern Canal Walkway. Follow the signs for the walkway, which is a scenic path along the Northern Canal.
Public Transit

From the Lowell Transit Authority (LTA) bus terminal at 100 Thorndike Street, take the bus route 1 towards the 'Lowell Connector'. Get off at the 'Dutton & Merrimack' stop. Once you get off the bus, walk down Dutton Street, and take a left onto the Northern Canal Walkway. The walkway entrance is well marked and offers a beautiful view of the canal.
Biking

If you have a bike, you can start from the Tsongas Center at 300 Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Head east on MLK Jr. Way and then take a left onto the bike path that leads to the Northern Canal Walkway. Follow the path along the canal, which will lead you directly to the Northern Canal Walkway. Make sure to follow the bike lanes and obey traffic signals for safety.
