The Cascade: A Natural Wonder in North Adams

Getting There

• Car

  If you are already in Mohawk Trail State Forest, begin by heading west on Mohawk Trail (Route 2). Continue on Route 2 until you reach the intersection with Route 8 in North Adams. Turn left onto Route 8 South and follow it for about 2 miles. As you approach the downtown area, turn right onto West Main Street, and then take a left onto State Road (Route 2). Follow this road until you reach the parking area for The Cascade, which will be on your right.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, you will first need to take a bus from the nearest city with service, such as Greenfield or North Adams. Check local schedules for the best route to North Adams. Once you arrive in North Adams, you can take a taxi or rideshare service to The Cascade. Be sure to check for local taxi services or rideshare availability in advance, as they may not always be readily available in the area.

• Walking

  If you are staying within North Adams and prefer to walk, you can start from the downtown area. Head west on Main Street, then follow State Road (Route 2) northwest out of town. The Cascade is approximately 2 miles from the center of North Adams. Please be cautious as you walk along the road, and ensure you have comfortable walking shoes.
