Bus
From New Bedford, head to the nearest bus stop for the Greater New Bedford Regional Transit Authority (GNBRT). You can catch the bus line that connects to the city of Newport, Rhode Island. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the appropriate times. Once you arrive in Newport, disembark at the stop nearest to the Newport Visitor Center. From there, head north on America’s Cup Avenue until you reach the intersection with Memorial Boulevard. Turn left onto Memorial Boulevard and follow it until you reach a roundabout. Take the second exit onto Thames Street, continuing straight. After passing the International Tennis Hall of Fame, turn left onto Luce Avenue. The Naval War College Museum will be on your right.

Begin at the New Bedford train station and board the South Coast Rail line towards Boston. Disembark at the Providence station. From Providence, transfer to the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) bus service that goes to Newport. Board the bus and travel until you reach the Newport Visitor Center. Once you arrive, walk north on America’s Cup Avenue, turn left on Memorial Boulevard, and then left onto Thames Street. Finally, turn left onto Luce Avenue, and the Naval War College Museum will be on your right.

Cross the bridge into Fairhaven and continue onward. You will need to navigate through Fairhaven and join the bike paths leading to the south through Route 240. Once you reach the bridge to Newport, follow the local bike routes into Newport. Upon entering Newport, navigate towards America’s Cup Avenue, then proceed to Memorial Boulevard, and finally turn left onto Luce Avenue. The Naval War College Museum will be on your right.
