Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from the North Shore region, start by accessing Route 128 (I-95) South. Take exit 25B for US-1 North toward Lynn. Continue on US-1 North for about 8 miles until you reach the signs for Salem. Merge onto MA-107 North, following the signs for Salem. Once in Salem, turn right onto Essex Street. The Peabody Essex Museum will be located on your left at 161 Essex St. There is parking available at the museum, but be aware that there may be a parking fee.

• Public Transportation - MBTA Commuter Rail

  For those using public transportation, take the MBTA Commuter Rail from North Shore stations like Lynn or Beverly to the Salem station. Once you arrive at Salem station, exit and walk towards the downtown area. Head east on Washington Street and then turn left onto Essex Street. It’s a pleasant 15 to 20-minute walk to the Peabody Essex Museum at 161 Essex St.

  You can also take the MBTA bus service from various locations in the North Shore area to Salem. Check the MBTA website for the most current bus routes. Once you arrive at the Salem bus terminal, exit and walk towards the downtown area. Head east on Washington Street, then turn left onto Essex Street. The museum is located at 161 Essex St. The bus fare will vary based on your starting location.
