If you are starting from Quincy Center, walk to the Quincy Center Station and catch the MBTA Braintree branch train towards Alewife. Get off at Park Street Station. From Park Street, exit the station and head northwest on Tremont Street. Continue walking for about 5 minutes until you reach Beacon Street. Turn left onto Beacon Street, and you will find the Boston Athenaeum at 10-1/2 Beacon St, on your right.

From the North Quincy Station, take the Red Line train towards Ashmont. Transfer at Park Street Station to the Green Line. After transferring, exit the station and walk northwest on Tremont Street. Continue straight for about 5 minutes until you reach Beacon Street. Turn left onto Beacon Street, and the Boston Athenaeum will be located at 10-1/2 Beacon St, on your right.

If you are near the Adams National Historical Park in Quincy, start walking towards the Quincy Center Station. From there, head towards the MBTA Red Line and take a train towards Alewife. Disembark at Park Street Station. After exiting the station, walk northwest on Tremont Street for about 5 minutes. Turn left onto Beacon Street, and you will see the Boston Athenaeum at 10-1/2 Beacon St on your right.
