To reach Derby Square in Salem from Waltham, start by heading to the Waltham MBTA Commuter Rail Station. Board the Fitchburg Line train heading towards North Station in Boston. After approximately 30 minutes, disembark at the North Station. From there, transfer to the Orange Line subway towards Oak Grove. Travel 2 stops and get off at Haymarket. At Haymarket, follow the signs to the Haymarket bus terminal. Board the Salem-bound bus (MBTA Route 450 or 455). After about 30 minutes, get off at the Salem stop. From the bus stop, walk towards Derby Square, which is about a 5-minute walk straight ahead.
Train and Walk
Begin your journey at Waltham’s MBTA Commuter Rail Station. Take the Fitchburg Line towards North Station in Boston. After approximately 30 minutes, arrive at North Station. From here, transfer to the Orange Line subway towards Oak Grove. Get off at Haymarket station, and exit the station. Walk towards the North End for approximately 10-15 minutes until you reach the Haymarket bus terminal. From there, board the Salem-bound bus (MBTA Route 450 or 455). After about 30 minutes on the bus, disembark at the Salem stop. Walk straight for about 5 minutes to reach Derby Square.

If you are staying close to Salem, you can reach Derby Square by walking. Start from the Salem Witch Museum located at 19 1/2 Washington Square North. Walk south on Washington Square, then take a right onto Essex Street. Continue straight for about 5 minutes until you reach Derby Square, which will be on your left, near the intersection with Washington Street.
