Public Transit
From Waltham, head to the Waltham MBTA Station located at 75 Crescent Street. Take the Fitchburg Line train towards North Station in Boston. Once you arrive at North Station, transfer to the Orange Line towards Oak Grove. Ride the Orange Line until you reach Haymarket Station. From Haymarket, exit and walk towards the Government Center. Look for the 2nd floor of the terminal, where you can catch the 'Salem Ferry' at the Long Wharf. The ferry will take you directly to Salem. The ferry terminal is located at 10 Blaney St, Salem, MA 01970.
Bus
Walk to the nearest bus stop in Waltham, which is located at Main St. & Waverley Oaks Rd. Catch the #70 or #70A bus towards Alewife Station. Ride the bus for about 20 minutes until you reach Alewife Station. From there, take the Alewife subway towards Ashmont and transfer at Park Street to the Green Line. Take the Green Line to Government Center. From there, walk to the Long Wharf where the Salem Ferry departs. The ferry terminal is located at 10 Blaney St, Salem, MA 01970.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, you can bike from Waltham to Salem. Start from Waltham and head north on the Minuteman Bikeway. Follow the signs towards Alewife, and continue toward the scenic Alewife Greenway. Once you reach Alewife, take the bike-friendly roads towards the North Shore. Follow the coastline until you reach Salem. You can park your bike at the ferry terminal located at 10 Blaney St, Salem, MA 01970, and catch the ferry from there.
