Walking
From downtown Waltham, head east on Main Street towards Moody Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Moody Street. Turn left onto Moody Street and walk for about 0.5 miles. After crossing the bridge, keep walking straight until you reach the bus stop for the 70 or 70A bus towards Alewife Station. Board the bus and ride for approximately 30 minutes until you arrive at Alewife Station. From there, transfer to the Red Line towards Ashmont/Braintree. Get off at Downtown Crossing Station. Exit the station and head towards Washington Street. Walk south on Washington Street for about 0.3 miles, and you will arrive at Charles Street in Boston.
Public Transport
Begin your journey at the Waltham MBTA Commuter Rail Station. Take the Fitchburg Line train towards North Station. The ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Once you arrive at North Station, exit the platform and follow the signs to Haymarket. From Haymarket, take the Green Line (C or E train) toward Government Center. Transfer to the Orange Line train towards Forest Hills at Haymarket. Ride for two stops and get off at North Station. Once you exit the station, walk towards Charles Street, which is about a 10-minute walk following signs towards the North End.
Bicycling
If you have access to a bicycle, start at Waltham Common and head east on Common Street. Continue straight until you reach the bike path along the Charles River. Follow the bike path south along the river for approximately 6 miles, enjoying the scenic views. You will eventually connect to the Esplanade, which leads directly into Boston. Follow the path to Charles Street, where you'll find yourself in the heart of Boston's notable street area.
