Getting There

Walking
From the center of Black River, head towards the coast and find the main road, B9. Walk along this road towards the south for about 1 km until you reach the junction with the B10 road. You will see signs for Chamarel. Take the B10 road and continue walking for approximately 4 km. This road will lead you towards Chamarel. Keep an eye out for the signposts that indicate the direction to Macchabée Viewpoint. As you approach Chamarel, you will notice that the scenery becomes more mountainous.

Once you arrive in Chamarel, continue on the B10 road until you reach a fork in the road. Here, you will want to take the left path which will take you towards the Chamarel Waterfall. Follow this road for about 1 km until you reach the entrance to the Black River Gorges National Park. There is usually a sign indicating the entry point. Note that the area can be a bit steep, so wear comfortable shoes.
