Flavours of Mauritius: Bois Cherie Tea, Rhumerie St Aubin & Lunch

Enjoyed this wonderful and informative tour which included visits to a Tea Plantation, Rum Distillery, Colonial House and Vanilla Plantation, along with a delicious lunch and opportunity to visit Gris Gris and the Trou aux Cerfs volcanic crater. Our Guide Manav was punctual, friendly and great company. It was refreshing to spend time with a Guide who has such passion and enthusiasm for his work. He tailored the Tour to our needs and preferences and nothing was too much trouble. The tours at all of the locations were very informative and interesting. It was great to see how the tea, rum and vanilla was processed, before having the opportunity to taste all the final products. The view of the crater lake with deer and boar roaming in the distance during the tea tasting was wonderful. A table had been reserved for lunch at the tea plantation and both the fish and chicken main courses were delicious, as were the starters and desserts. The rum tasting was great fun and the service felt more personal than at a larger distillery. Thanks for a lovely and varied day out and to Manav for being such a wonderful host.

East of Mauritius: Full Day Scenic Tour with Lunch & Glass Bottom

East Mauritius tour

This was our 2nd trip with Hans as driver/guide. This time to the east of Mauritius. The island is beautiful and this trip well worth doing. Unfortunately the Mauritius museum was closed due to a roof collapse, but Hans added a stop at Gris gris to make up for it. The glass bottom boat was a lovely trip on a beautiful lagoon, we were lucky to see a turtle, it was sad to see all the bleached corals. The lunch at a typical Mauritian restaurant was good (on a side note unless you like having your mouth on fire do not have the chilli sauce anywhere in Mauritius) We would recommend Hans and his company for any tours.

The Exotic East: Ile aux Aigrettes & Blue Bay marine park & Lunch

Immersed in local life!

If you wish to discover Mauritius simply, this is the activity to choose. Our guide Hanson was very friendly and dedicated, the market visit was very efficient, Local. Regarding Île aux Aigrettes, we saw one turtle but met staff who are passionate about nature. Definitely take mosquito repellent and book in the morning; the animals are apparently present. We chose the activity with a glass-bottom boat; the small fish are present but unfortunately too touristy. As for the meal, it is a typical and very local restaurant. However, I reiterate the kindness of Hanson, who taught us quite a bit about the fauna and flora and the habits of Mauritians. If you wish to know local life in Mauritius in its simplicity, this is the excursion; however, if you want something more touristy, I think you should pass on this one.
