Car
From Ile aux Cerfs, begin by driving to the nearest mainland access point. Head towards the Jetty at Trou d'Eau Douce. Take the ferry to the mainland, which typically takes about 10 minutes. Once you reach the mainland, follow the signs towards Mahébourg. You'll want to take the A3 highway heading southwest. Continue on A3 for about 25 km until you reach the roundabout at Mahébourg. Take the first exit onto Royal Road. The Mahebourg Museum will be on your right side. Parking is available nearby.
Public Transportation
To reach Mahebourg Museum from Ile aux Cerfs using public transport, start by taking a ferry from Ile aux Cerfs to Trou d'Eau Douce. Ferries operate regularly, and the fare is typically around 200 MUR for a round trip. Once you arrive at Trou d'Eau Douce, walk to the bus stop located near the jetty. Look for buses heading to Mahébourg (Route 1 or 4). The bus ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes and costs around 50 MUR. Once you arrive in Mahébourg, disembark at the main bus station. From there, it is a short 10-minute walk to Mahebourg Museum located on Royal Road. Follow the road signs or ask locals for directions.
