La Cambuse Beach: A Tropical Paradise

Getting There

• Bus

  From the city center of Port Louis, head to the nearest bus terminal, which is the Port Louis Bus Station located on the corner of Royal Road and Dumas Street. Look for a bus heading towards 'Mahebourg' or 'Plaine Magnien.' The bus fare is inexpensive, typically around 30-50 Mauritian Rupees. Once aboard, enjoy the scenic ride which will take approximately 45 minutes. Keep an eye out for the Plaine Magnien area; the bus will announce the stops. Get off at the Plaine Magnien stop, then head towards the main road. La Cambuse Beach is about a 15-minute walk from this stop. Just follow the signs towards the beach, and you will reach your destination.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct option, you can take a taxi from Port Louis. Head to a recognized taxi stand, such as the one located near the Port Louis Waterfront. Inform the driver that you want to go to La Cambuse Beach, located in Plaine Magnien. The fare will be higher than the bus, typically ranging from 800-1000 Mauritian Rupees, and the journey will take about 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

• Walking

  If you are near the waterfront area in Port Louis, you can also walk to the bus station and take the bus to Plaine Magnien as previously described. Alternatively, if you are feeling adventurous, you can walk towards the beach via the coastal road, but this can be a long trek of about 1.5 hours. It’s recommended to use this option only if you are familiar with the area and have good walking shoes, as the roads may not have sidewalks.
