Getting there

Car

If you are traveling by car, start from the capital, Mamoudzou. Head south on Route Nationale 1 (RN1) towards Boueni. Continue on RN1 for about 30 km until you reach the town of Boueni. In Boueni, take a right turn onto Route de Mbouanatsa. Follow this road for approximately 10 km, and you will see signs directing you towards Mbouanatsa Plage. The beach is located at the following coordinates: -12.9433, 45.1015. There's usually free parking available near the beach.

Public Transportation

For those using public transportation, you can take a shared taxi (known as 'taxi-brousse') from Mamoudzou to Boueni. The fare is typically around 500-800 CFA francs. Once in Boueni, you will need to hire a local taxi to take you to Mbouanatsa Plage, which should cost about 1000-1500 CFA francs. Make sure to confirm the fare before getting in. The taxi driver will know the location of Mbouanatsa Plage, so you can simply ask to be taken there.

Bicycle

If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Mamoudzou and cycle to Mbouanatsa Plage. The ride is approximately 40 km and will take you through scenic views of the island. Take RN1 from Mamoudzou to Boueni, then turn onto Route de Mbouanatsa. Be prepared for some hills and ensure you have enough water and snacks for the journey.
