Car
If you are driving from Mamoudzou, head south on the N1 highway. Continue for approximately 15 kilometers until you reach the intersection with the D4 road. Turn left onto D4 and follow the road for another 10 kilometers. You will pass through Bandrele, where you can stop for supplies if needed. Once you reach Bandrele, look for signs directing you to Sommet du Mont Benara. The final stretch will involve a short drive on a local road that leads up to the mountain. Note that parking is available near the base of the mountain.
Public Transportation
Start by taking a taxi-brousse (shared taxi) from Mamoudzou to Bandrele. These usually depart from the main taxi-brousse station and cost around 2000-3000 YT francs. Once you arrive in Bandrele, you will need to take a local taxi or walk to the base of Sommet du Mont Benara. It is advisable to ask locals for the best way to reach the site as public transport may not directly take you there.
Hiking
From the parking area at the base of Sommet du Mont Benara, prepare for a hike to the summit. The trail is well-marked, and it typically takes about 1-2 hours to reach the top, depending on your fitness level.
