Getting There

  • Car

    To reach Xunantunich Mayan Ruins by car, start in Mexico City and head south on Highway 186 towards the town of Chetumal. From Chetumal, continue on Highway 186 until you reach the town of San Ignacio. Once in San Ignacio, follow the signs towards Xunantunich Mayan Ruins. The ruins are located about 8 miles southwest of San Ignacio. You can park your car at the designated parking area and then walk the short distance to the entrance of the ruins.

  • Public Transportation

    If you prefer to use public transportation, you can take a bus from Mexico City to the town of Chetumal. From Chetumal, you can take another bus to San Ignacio. Once in San Ignacio, you can either walk to Xunantunich Mayan Ruins (about 8 miles southwest of town) or hire a taxi to take you there. The entrance to the ruins is a short walk from the parking area.
