Xunantunich

Xunantunich or Maiden of the stone is a major ceremonial, archaeological site which dates to the Classic Period. This amazing site features one of the highest temples in Belize, El Castillo, which towers about 140 feet from floor level. This enchanting place is not only rich in history and culture, but also offers a 360 degrees panoramic views of the tropical jungle, mountains, and emerald, lazy river from atop. Join us for a magical day at Xunantunich which starts by crossing a hand cranked ferry and ends with a full immersion of the Mayas history, accomplishments, culture, and architectural magic. Please note hiking is done mainly under canopy for an approximate of 3 hours. As you exit the Archaeological Site, our guides are able to stop for lunch at a local restaurant (lunch not included).
