Bus
From San Cristóbal de las Casas, head to the main bus terminal (Terminal de Autobuses). Purchase a ticket for a bus heading to La Trinitaria. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once you arrive in La Trinitaria, ask the bus driver to drop you off at the central plaza (Plaza Principal), which is a common stop for buses. From the plaza, you can either take a local taxi or walk to the El Lagartero Archaeological Zone, which is approximately 5 km away. If you choose to walk, head south on Calle 5 de Febrero, then turn left onto Calle 16 de Septiembre and follow the signs to El Lagartero.
Collective Taxi (Taxi Colectivo)
In San Cristóbal de las Casas, go to the collective taxi stand located near the main square. Look for taxis heading towards La Trinitaria. The fare is usually shared among passengers, so it’s a budget-friendly option. The ride takes about 1 hour and will drop you off at the central plaza in La Trinitaria. From the plaza, you can take a local taxi or walk approximately 5 km to reach the El Lagartero Archaeological Zone. For walking, follow the same directions as mentioned for the bus.
Walking
If you are already in La Trinitaria, start your journey from the central plaza (Plaza Principal). Head south on Calle 5 de Febrero for about 2 km until you reach the intersection with Calle 16 de Septiembre. Turn left onto Calle 16 de Septiembre and continue walking for another 3 km. You should see signs for El Lagartero Archaeological Zone along the way. The total walking distance is approximately 5 km, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
