Metro and Bus
From your location in Mexico City, first make your way to the nearest Metro station. Use the Metro Line 1 (Pink Line) towards Pantitlán and get off at Pino Suárez station. Transfer to Line 2 (Blue Line) towards Tasqueña and get off at Chabacano - Coyoacán. Here, transfer to Line 3 (Olive Green Line) towards Indios Verdes and get off at Hidalgo station. From Hidalgo, exit the Metro and head to the Terminal de Autobuses de Pasajeros de Pasajeros de Oriente (TAPO) by taking a taxi or an Uber, which should take around 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. At TAPO, purchase a ticket to Morelia in Michoacán. The bus ride to Morelia will take approximately 3-4 hours. Once in Morelia, take a local bus or taxi to Mariposa Monarca, which is about 60 km away and will take around 1 hour to reach.

Direct Bus
Head to the Terminal de Autobuses de Pasajeros de Pasajeros de Oriente (TAPO) by taxi or Uber from your location. At TAPO, purchase a direct ticket to the town of Angangueo, which is the closest town to Mariposa Monarca. The direct bus to Angangueo takes about 4-5 hours. From Angangueo, you can take a local taxi or shuttle service to the Mariposa Monarca nature preserve, which is approximately 14 km away and should take around 30 minutes.

Flight and Taxi
For a faster route, consider taking a flight from Mexico City to the nearest airport, which is in Morelia. Check for available flights, and upon arrival at Morelia airport, take a taxi to Mariposa Monarca, which is about 60 km away. This journey will take about 1 hour.
