Getting There

  • Bus

    From the center of Oaxaca, head to the 'Terminal de Autobuses de Pasajeros de Oaxaca' (Oaxaca Bus Terminal). You can take a taxi or a local bus to get there. Once at the terminal, look for buses heading to 'Tlacolula' or 'San Jerónimo Tlacochahuaya'. The bus ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Inform the bus driver that you want to get off at 'Dainzú' or the stop for 'San Jerónimo Tlacochahuaya'. The fare is usually around 15-25 pesos.

  • Walking

    Once you arrive at the stop for San Jerónimo Tlacochahuaya, get off the bus and walk towards the main road (Carretera a Tlacolula). You will need to walk approximately 1.5 km along this road. Look for signs pointing to 'Zona Arqueológica Dainzú'. The archaeological site is located at Carretera a Tlacolula 190 Km 17. The walk should take around 20-25 minutes.

    If you prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle in Oaxaca city. From the city center, head towards the east on 'Calzada de la República'. Continue onto 'Carretera a Tlacolula' and follow the road for about 13 km. The ride will take approximately 1 hour depending on your pace. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow the road rules.
