Buses run frequently, and the journey takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive in Mitla, exit the bus station and walk towards the main road (Camino Nacional). The Zona Arqueológica de Mitla is a short 10-minute walk straight along Camino Nacional. Look for signs pointing to the archaeological site.

  • Shared Taxi (Colectivo)

    Make your way to the 'Terminal de Autobuses de Pasajeros ADO' or the main square ('Zócalo') in Oaxaca. Look for a shared taxi (colectivo) that goes to Mitla. These taxis usually leave when full and are a faster option than buses. The fare is generally around 50 pesos per person. The trip takes about 30-45 minutes. Once in Mitla, ask the driver to drop you off at the archaeological site entrance, which is well-known.

    If you're already in the vicinity of Mitla, the archaeological site is accessible by walking. From the main square of San Pablo Villa de Mitla, walk towards the southeast on Calle 16 de Septiembre until you reach Camino Nacional. Turn right on Camino Nacional, and continue for about 500 meters. The Zona Arqueológica de Mitla will be on your left. You can also use local tuk-tuks (motorized rickshaws) available in the area, which can take you to the site for a small fee.
