Parque Los Fundadores: A Tropical Oasis in Playa del Carmen

Getting There

• Walking

  If you're staying anywhere in the Centro area of Playa del Carmen, you can easily walk to Parque Los Fundadores. Start by heading towards Av Benito Juárez, which is one of the main streets in the area. As you walk along, look for signs or use a map app to keep you oriented. The park is located at Av Benito Juárez, right by the beach, so you’ll know you’re close when you start to hear the ocean. The park is situated right next to the famous Portal Maya, which is a large sculpture that marks the entrance to the park. It's a beautiful area with plenty of palm trees and open space to enjoy.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the many rental shops in Playa del Carmen. Once you have your bike, head towards Av Benito Juárez. Follow the street along the coastline, and you'll arrive at Parque Los Fundadores in about 10-15 minutes, depending on your speed. The ride is enjoyable as you'll be near the beach, and there are bike lanes available in many parts of the area.

• Public Transportation

  You can also take a colectivo, which is a shared van. Head to the nearest colectivo stop, which can usually be found along 5th Avenue or near major intersections. Look for a colectivo heading towards the Puerto Morelos direction and ask the driver to drop you off at Parque Los Fundadores. The ride is short and will cost you just a few pesos. Once you get off, the park will be just a short walk away.
