A Residential Extension of San Miguel

Colonia Guadalupe developed as part of San Miguel de Allende’s outward growth beyond the compact historic centre. Rather than being planned as a colonial plaza district, it took shape through residential streets and practical urban expansion, with houses, workshops and small businesses forming a more ordinary counterpart to the grand civic and religious buildings downtown. Its name is associated with the nearby Templo de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, a landmark on the western side of the central area.
