If you're traveling by car, start from Playa del Carmen. Head south on the Carretera 307 (Federal Highway 307) for about 45 minutes. You'll pass through the towns of Puerto Aventuras and Akumal. Look for the signs indicating 'Tulum' and take the exit toward Tulum. Continue straight until you reach Tulum's main avenue, Avenida Tulum. Follow this road, and it will lead you directly into the town center. For parking, you can find various paid parking options near the archaeological site and along the beach areas.

From Cancun or Playa del Carmen, you can take a bus to Tulum. In Cancun, head to the ADO bus terminal, located at Avenida Tulum. Purchase a ticket to Tulum, which costs approximately 120-150 MXN. The journey takes about 2 hours. If you're coming from Playa del Carmen, the ADO terminal is also accessible in the town center. Buses run frequently throughout the day. Once you arrive at the Tulum bus station, you can either walk (about 15 minutes) to the archaeological site or catch a local taxi for around 50-70 MXN.

Another popular option is to take a collectivo, a shared minivan that runs between towns. From Playa del Carmen, collectivos leave from the corner of Avenida 15 and Calle 1 Sur. The fare to Tulum is around 40 MXN, and the ride takes approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Tulum, you can walk or take a taxi to the archaeological site, which is about a 5-10 minute drive.

If you prefer a more private mode of transport, you can hire a taxi to take you to Tulum. This can be done from any nearby major town.
