Collectivo
To reach Akumal from Tulum, take a collectivo (shared van) from the main collectivo station located on the corner of Avenida Tulum and Calle Osiris. The collectivos to Akumal are marked with signs. The fare is usually around 50 pesos. The journey takes about 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Akumal, alert the driver to stop at the main entrance.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Tulum. Head north on Avenida Tulum until you reach the intersection with Highway 307. Turn left onto the highway and follow the signs towards Akumal. The distance is approximately 25 km (15.5 miles) and will take about 1-1.5 hours depending on your cycling speed. Keep an eye out for the Akumal sign to know when to turn off the highway.

Walking to Akumal from Tulum is not highly recommended due to the distance and traffic along the highway.
