Great Orientation to the History and Community of Ajijic

While staying in Chapala, we wanted to also see and learn about Ajijic. This walking tour was just the ticket. Greg is a US ex-pat who has lived in Ajijic and worked in the Mexican tourism and relocation sector for many years. He shared about the history of Ajijic and its "intercultural" development, especially in the years following the Second World War, and was frank about both the benefits and the issues that development has brought. He provided great tips for how to engage the community whether during a short visit or an extended stay. The tour included stops at locations that had only recently opened, and so is clearly regularly updated. His detailed descriptions of the content of several murals in the village added depth to an appreciation of their beauty. If you are looking for an excellent introduction to this particular "Pueblo Mágico" on the shores of Lake Chapala, this tour is highly recommended.
