Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, take the federal highway 307 from any point in the Yucatan Peninsula heading south. You will pass through towns like Tulum and Playa del Carmen. Continue driving until you reach the town of Bacalar. The lagoon is located just south of the town center. Look for signs pointing towards 'Laguna de Bacalar'. Upon entering Bacalar, you can park your car in designated areas near the lagoon.

• Bus

  For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from larger cities like Cancun or Tulum. ADO and similar bus companies offer routes to Bacalar. The journey from Cancun takes about 5 hours, while from Tulum it takes about 2 hours. The bus will drop you off at the main bus station in Bacalar. From there, it's a short walk to the lagoon area. Follow the signs towards the lagoon, which is typically less than a kilometer from the bus station.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route after arriving in Bacalar by bus, you can hire a taxi to take you directly to Bacalar Lagoon. Taxi fares can range from 50 to 150 Mexican Pesos depending on your location within Bacalar. Make sure to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, consider renting a bicycle once you arrive in Bacalar. There are several rental shops in town. Riding a bike to the lagoon allows you to explore the area at your own pace. The route is relatively flat and scenic. Rental prices typically range from 100 to 200 Mexican Pesos per day.
