Car
If you are traveling by car, start by heading to the nearest major city, such as Mérida or Cancún. From Mérida, take Route 180 towards Tizimin. After about 1.5 hours, exit onto Route 295 toward Chichén Itzá. Follow the signs for approximately 45 minutes directly to the site. From Cancún, take Route 180 towards Valladolid, then follow signs to Chichén Itzá. The drive will take around 2 hours. Make sure to have cash on hand for tolls and parking fees, which can range from 30-100 MXN.
Public Transportation
To reach Chichén Itzá via public transportation, you can take an ADO bus from cities like Mérida or Cancún. Buses from Mérida leave frequently from the ADO terminal and the journey takes about 2 hours for around 200-300 MXN. From Cancún, ADO buses are available and will take about 2.5 hours. Once you arrive at the Chichén Itzá bus station, the archaeological site is a 2 km walk or you can take a taxi for approximately 50-100 MXN.
