Getting There

• Car

  From Copper Harbor, head south on US-41. Continue on US-41 for about 6 miles until you reach the town of Mohawk. As you enter Mohawk, look for North Shore Trail on your left. Turn left onto North Shore Trail and follow it for approximately 1 mile. You will find Agate Beach on your right. There is no parking fee, but be sure to check if there are any specific local regulations regarding parking along the beach.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bike in Copper Harbor. Take the same route as you would by car: head south on US-41 and then take a left onto North Shore Trail. Biking the 6 miles to Mohawk is a scenic ride, and you will find Agate Beach just a short ride down North Shore Trail. Ensure you wear a helmet and follow all biking safety rules. There are no fees for biking to the beach.

• Walking/Hiking

  For the more adventurous, consider hiking from Copper Harbor to Agate Beach. The distance is about 6 miles one way, so make sure to bring plenty of water and wear appropriate footwear. Start on US-41 heading south, then turn left onto North Shore Trail. The walk will take you through beautiful natural scenery. Be mindful of the time it takes, as this will be a longer journey. There are no costs associated with hiking to the beach, but ensure you have a map or a GPS device to stay on track.

• Public Transportation

  Currently, there are limited public transportation options directly to Agate Beach from Copper Harbor. However, you can check if any local tour operators offer shuttle services or guided tours that include Agate Beach as a stop. Always confirm the schedule ahead of time as it may vary seasonally.
