Bus
From downtown Holland, walk to the nearest bus stop for the Interurban Transit Authority (ITA) bus service. Board the bus heading towards Saugatuck. You will need to check the ITA schedule for exact times, but buses typically run every hour. Inform the driver that you would like to get off at the stop for Saugatuck Dunes State Park, which is located near 138th Ave. After about 30-40 minutes, you will arrive at your stop. From there, walk approximately 0.5 miles east along 138th Ave to reach the park entrance.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, consider renting a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Holland. Start by heading west on 8th St towards Lake Michigan. Continue onto the scenic bike paths that lead towards the Saugatuck area. Follow the bike trail signs along the way to ensure you stay on track. After about 10 miles, you will arrive at Saugatuck Dunes State Park. The park is accessible from 138th Ave, where you can lock your bike and enter the park.
Walking
If you prefer to walk, start from downtown Holland and head west towards Lake Michigan. This is a long walk, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated. Follow 8th St until you reach the scenic lakeshore, then continue on the pedestrian paths towards Saugatuck. The total distance is approximately 10 miles and will take around 3-4 hours depending on your pace. Once you reach 138th Ave, you will find the entrance to Saugatuck Dunes State Park.
