Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of Saugatuck, head west on Butler Street, which will take you through the charming downtown area. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Water Street. Turn left onto Water Street and walk towards the waterfront. Follow the path along the Kalamazoo River until you reach the Saugatuck Dune Rides entrance. From there, you can follow the marked trail towards Mt Baldhead.

• Biking

  Start from the center of Saugatuck and rent a bike from a local shop if you haven't already. Head west on Butler Street and then turn left onto Water Street, following it along the river. Continue biking on the scenic Lakeshore Drive until you reach the entrance to Mt Baldhead. There are bike racks available for you to lock up your bike before you begin your hike up the dune.

• Public Transportation

  Though Saugatuck is small and doesn't have extensive public transit, you can check for any seasonal shuttle services that may operate in the area. From the center of Saugatuck, inquire at local visitor centers or hotels for the nearest shuttle stop. If available, take the shuttle towards the Mt Baldhead area and get off at the closest stop, then walk towards the entrance of Mt Baldhead.

• Riding a Scooter

  Rent a scooter from a local rental shop in Saugatuck. Start by heading west on Butler Street and then turn left onto Water Street. Continue along the waterfront and take Lakeshore Drive north until you reach the access point for Mt Baldhead. Park your scooter at the designated area and prepare for your hike up the dune.
