Car
If you are renting a car, start your journey from Kolonia, the capital of Pohnpei Island. Head east on the main road, Route 1, towards the direction of Pwel Weita. Continue to follow Route 1 for approximately 15 kilometers (around 30 minutes). As you approach Pwel Weita, you will see signs pointing towards Lipwentiak Waterfall. Turn onto the dirt road that leads to the waterfall. The last stretch to the waterfall may require a 4WD vehicle due to rough terrain. Make sure to park your car at the designated area and prepare for a short hike down to the waterfall.
Public Transportation
To reach Lipwentiak Waterfall using public transport, take a taxi or a local bus from Kolonia to Pwel Weita. Buses are generally available from the main bus terminal and are a cost-effective option, usually costing around $5 to $10. Inform the driver of your destination, Lipwentiak Waterfall, as they may drop you off closer to the trailhead. From the drop-off point, you will need to walk approximately 1 kilometer on foot to reach the waterfall entrance. Be prepared for some uneven terrain along the way.
