Public Transit - Bus
Start at the Duluth Transit Authority's downtown hub located at 5th Ave W & W 1st St. Take the bus route 3 (West Duluth) which operates regularly. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the stop at 'Tower Ave & E 14th St.' Transfer to the bus route 4 (Carlton) which will take you closer to Jay Cooke State Park. After about 20 minutes, get off at the stop near 'Hwy 210 & Jay Cooke State Park Entrance'. From there, it is a short walk (about 0.5 miles) to the main entrance of Jay Cooke State Park.

Bicycle
If you prefer biking, start from downtown Duluth and head south on the Munger Trail. Follow the trail until it connects with the Willard Munger State Trail and continue heading towards Carlton. The ride is approximately 20 miles and will take about 2 hours. Once you reach Carlton, follow the signs to Jay Cooke State Park, which is a short distance from the trail.

Walking to Jay Cooke State Park from downtown Duluth is a long trek (about 25 miles) and may not be practical for most tourists. However, if you are up for the challenge, head west on W 1st St until you reach the bridge over the St. Louis River. Continue walking along the river until you reach highway 210. Follow the highway to the park entrance. Keep in mind that this option will take several hours and is recommended only for experienced walkers.
