If you're starting from downtown Duluth, head east on W Superior St toward N 5th Ave. Continue walking until you reach N 5th Ave and turn left. Follow N 5th Ave until it turns into E 3rd St. Continue on E 3rd St until you reach 21st Ave E. Turn right onto 21st Ave E and keep walking until you reach Woodland Ave. Turn left onto Woodland Ave and continue walking until you see Hartley Nature Center on your left at 3001 Woodland Ave. The total distance is approximately 2.5 miles and should take about an hour.

From downtown Duluth, take the DTA bus route 5 (the 'East Side' route) from the Duluth Transit Center. Get off at the stop near the intersection of Woodland Ave and 30th Ave E.
