Walking
Start in the center of Ely, Minnesota, at the intersection of Sheridan Street and Washington Street. Head east on Washington Street toward the Ely Public Library. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with 2nd Avenue. Turn left onto 2nd Avenue. Follow 2nd Avenue until it becomes the Ely Lake Road (County Road 88) as you continue out of town. After about 1.5 miles, you will reach the entrance to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Here, you will find signs directing you to the hiking trailhead for Dry Lake Falls. The trailhead is located approximately 2 miles down the Ely Lake Road on your right.

If you have access to a bike, start from the Ely City Park located on Sheridan Street. Head north on Sheridan Street until you reach the intersection with 3rd Avenue. Turn right onto 3rd Avenue, which will lead you to the Ely Lake Road (County Road 88). Follow Ely Lake Road for about 2.5 miles, where you will see signs for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Look for the parking area and trailhead for Dry Lake Falls on your left after approximately 2 miles on Ely Lake Road.
